Roadway Construction, Closures & Alerts

• Through 2021, the GGB will have overnight lane closures each weeknight to allow for construction of the Suicide Deterrent System. The Bridge roadway will REMAIN OPEN to all vehicle traffic at all times.  

• Beginning the week of Dec. 8, 2020, and continuing for several months, weather permitting, emergency Caltrans paving work to improve the friction surface of the roadway will take place on Hwy 101, north of the GGB, in the southbound and northbound directions. Associated lane closures will be coordinated with overnight construction and lane closures on the GGB. 

Scheduled Events on Sidewalks, Roadway & Surrounding Areas

For events scheduled on the East Sidewalk: The East Sidewalk remains open to users unless otherwise noted below. For events scheduled on the West Sidewalk: The West Sidewalk may be closed to bicycles during specific events; if this occurs, bicycles may have to use bike shuttles or may be allowed on the East Sidewalk – refer to the information below.
