Paying Your Bridge Toll Anonymously
If you wish to pay your Golden Gate Bridge toll anonymously, you will need to open and maintain a Fastrak Account using cash and properly mount your FasTrak toll tag in your vehicle.
Managing a FasTrak Account with cash requires no personal information, such as address, email address, phone number, credit card, banking information, vehicle information, and license plate numbers.
How It Works
When you drive through Toll Plaza, the toll tag signal, when mounted properly on your vehicle, is read by an antennae. As you pass through the Toll Plaza, you will hear a beep and your FasTrak Account will be charged the appropriate toll. If, for some technical reason, your toll tag does not beep, cameras will capture images of your vehicle license plate number and an invoice will be mailed to the registered owner of the vehicle.
To open a FasTrak Account using cash:
- Purchase a FasTrak toll tag at select Costco or Walgreens stores (visit www.bayareafastrak.org for all retail locations) or at the Bay Area FasTrak Customer Service Center (375 Beale Street, San Francisco).
- Register your toll tag and open an anonymous FasTrak Account at the Bay Area FasTrak Customer Service Center (375 Beale Street, San Francisco).
All FasTrak Accounts require a prepaid toll balance. You must replenish your account when the "Low Bal" or "Account Low" message appears on the Toll Plaza driver feedback display. If your account has insufficient funds when you pass through the Golden Gate Bridge Toll Plaza, a Toll Invoice for just the toll amount will be mailed to the registered owner of the vehicle. If your tag has insufficient funds when crossing a state-owned bridge, you must pay the toll in cash at the plaza or a Violation Notice will be mailed to the registered owner of the vehicle.
All account management for anonymous FasTrak Accounts must be conducted in person at the Bay Area FasTrak Customer Service Center (375 Beale Street, San Francisco). Account management includes replenishing your account, checking your account balance, ordering additional toll tags, or closing your account.
