On Monday, August 17, through Thursday, August 20, two southbound lanes on the Golden Gate Bridge will be closed from approximately 9:30am to 2:00pm for roadway maintenance. Two travel lanes will remain open in each direction on the Bridge, but drivers should expect to slow down around construction zones and may experience delays while the lane closures are in effect.
Maintenance performed will include pothole and asphalt repairs. Work is expected to be completed by 2:00pm each day, at which time the Bridge will be returned to a three southbound and three northbound lane configuration.
Staff will monitor traffic and weather before implementing the lane closure and cancel work if necessary.
Additional midday lane closures are scheduled for the following dates in 2026:
- Monday, September 7 through Thursday, September 10
- Monday, October 5 through Thursday, October 8
- Monday, November 2 through Thursday, November 5
Traffic control and signage will be in place during all roadway maintenance. Drivers should plan to slow down and proceed with caution around work areas during the lane closures.
