Bicycles, including electric bikes, are welcome aboard all Golden Gate Ferry (GGF) vessels with the understanding that customers may need to carry their bike up or down a flight of stairs to embark/disembark. Bikes are accepted on first-come, first-served basis, and all GGF high-speed catamarans can accommodate up to 30 bikes. Please note, bikes cannot exceed 32” in width to ride our ferry.
For your convenience, bike racks are available at the Larkspur and San Francisco Ferry Terminals. The Larkspur Ferry Terminal has covered bicycle storage for 80 bikes within the paid waiting area. Bike racks and/or bike parking is available near the Sausalito and Tiburon ferry landings. Bikes must be walked on and off the boat and bike riding is NOT permitted inside the terminal area.
The following exceptions apply:
- Maximum bicycle capacities noted below can vary by vessel class and operating conditions including passenger loads.
- Electric scooters and bikes are allowed on Golden Gate Ferry vessels, but they must be powered off and the handle retracted for easy storage.
- Charging of e-bikes, scooters, or any other electric mobility device is prohibited on-board a Golden Gate Ferry vessel.
- Folding bikes are permitted. They must be stowed under a seat or in another location deemed safe by onboard crew and are not allowed to be stowed using the bike racks reserved for regular, non-folding bicycles. They should be stowed in an appropriate carry-on bag.
- Lyft Bay Wheels, Redwood, or Today Bikeshare bikes are not allowed on Golden Gate Ferry.
- Although these bikes are not permitted on our buses and ferries, there are several hubs within walking distance to many of our bus stops and Ferry Terminals, making the bus-to-transit connection a breeze. For a limited time Redwood Bikeshare is offering three free rides with coupon code RideRedwood. More info here >
