GGB Parking Lots Closed Weekends & Holidays
On weekends and holidays from Memorial Day weekend through Sunday, October 8, 2023, visitors to the Golden Gate Bridge should consider riding a bike, taking a bus, or using a rideshare when traveling to the Bridge. Parking lots will be closed from 11 am to approximately 5 pm on Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays to reduce traffic congestion. During these closures, personal vehicles will not be permitted to park at the Welcome Center southeast end parking lot or at Caltrans' Vista Point northeast end parking lot. These seasonal operations are the result of joint cooperation between Caltrans, CHP, the National Park Service, and the Golden Gate Bridge, Highway and Transportation District. The closures are implemented to reduce traffic congestion and to create a more pleasant visitor experience during peak hours. There are no planned restrictions on weekdays, as traffic is generally lighter and does not clog the Highway 101 corridor.
To enjoy the Golden Gate Bridge during parking restricted hours:
- Take public transit: Go to our Visiting the Bridge page.
- Travel by foot, bicycle, tour bus, corporate shuttle, taxi, or a ridesharing service such as Lyft or Uber.
- Park in the overflow lots along Merchant Avenue, Lincoln Boulevard, and in the Presidio.

Tour buses will be allowed to park at both the Welcome Center and Vista Point lots. Taxis and rideshare vehicles will be allowed to pick up and drop off passengers at the Welcome Center ONLY—they will not be allowed to enter Vista Point. In addition, no taxi or rideshare staging or waiting will be allowed and ridesharing vehicles will need proper identification.
Electronic signs will notify drivers of the lot closures in advance of the Bridge, and signs will also be placed on the Bridge itself leading up to the Vista Point exit.
The Welcome Center will be open from 9:00 am to 6:00 pm daily, and cafés will be open to serve food and drink as usual. Visitors can plan their transit trip here, or by calling our Customer Service Center at 511 (say "Golden Gate Transit")/TDD 711, weekdays, except holidays, from 7:00 am to 6:00 pm.
