Bridge Remains OPEN to Traffic at ALL Times

Through 2021, the Golden Gate Bridge will have overnight lane closures during the week to allow for Suicide Deterrent System construction. Drivers should expect to slow down around construction areas and may experience minor traffic delays during construction hours.

Please note: When the overnight lane configuration is set to one northbound and two southbound lanes, pedestrian access to the east sidewalk will CLOSE one hour earlier—at 8:00 p.m. during Pacific Daylight Time.

Also, beginning the week of Dec. 8, 2020, and continuing for several months, weather permitting, emergency Caltrans paving work to improve the friction surface of the roadway will take place on Hwy 101, north of the GGB, in the southbound and northbound directions. Associated lane closures will be coordinated with overnight construction and lane closures on the GGB.

Monday, January 11 through Friday, January 15

Overnight Monday, January 11, the GGB roadway will narrow to one southbound lane and two northbound lanes between 9:00 p.m. and 5:00 a.m. (Tuesday morning).

Overnight Tuesday, January 12, the GGB roadway will narrow to one northbound lane and two southbound lanes between 9:00 p.m. and 5:00 a.m. (Wednesday morning).

Overnight Wednesday, January 13, the GGB roadway will narrow to one southbound lane and two northbound lanes between 9:00 p.m. and 5:00 a.m. (Thursday morning).

UPDATED INFO: Overnight Thursday, January 14, the GGB roadway will narrow to one southbound lane and two northbound lanes between 9:00 p.m. and 5:00 a.m. (Friday morning).

There will be NO overnight lane closures on Friday, January 15.

Please also note that the Sergeants' Office will close the West Sidewalk to bicyclists by 6:30 p.m. for the overnight lane closures.
