Can a person ride every transit system in the North Bay in one day with good connections?
We’ll find out on Tuesday, September 23rd as seven transit agencies in Marin and Sonoma Counties participate in the North Bay Transit Relay in honor of Transit Month and All Aboard Bay Area Transit Day!
To celebrate Transit Month, representatives from each North Bay agency– Golden Gate Ferry, Sonoma-Marin Area Rail Transit (SMART), Marin Transit, Golden Gate Transit, Petaluma Transit, Sonoma County Transit, and Santa Rosa CityBus – will take place in the relay and use their agency’s service to complete a leg of the trip. Each rider will accept a baton from the connecting agency, and at the end of their leg will pass it along to the next rider. This is not just any baton! It’s a genuine Golden Gate Bridge yellow pylon used to divide Bridge traffic for over 75 years before the Moveable Median Barrier was installed in 2015.
The fun starts with the 9:15 AM Golden Gate Ferry arrival at the Larkspur Terminal. We hope you’ll cheer us on by following the journey on our social media platforms. Let’s keep the baton moving! #northbaytransitrelay
