I Want to Pay with Cash

As of March 27, 2013, cash is no longer accepted at the Golden Gate Bridge Toll Plaza. Customers may continue to pay their Golden Gate Bridge toll using cash for FasTrak and either of our three Pay-By-Plate options - License Plate Account, One-Time Payment, or Toll Invoice.

Before making a decision on how to pay your toll using cash, remember: (1) FasTrak cash-paying customers pay the discounted Golden Gate Bridge toll rate while Pay-By-Plate customers pay the non-discounted rate, and (2) If you choose to pay your toll with cash, regardless of which toll payment option you choose, taking action IN PERSON is required as cash payments cannot be processed online or over the phone (credit cards are accepted online and over the phone).

Open a License Plate Account Using Cash

Customers may use CASH to open a License Plate Account by going to the Bay Area FasTrak Customer Service Center (effective June 17, 2014) at 62 First Street, San Francisco, CA 94105 (near the intersection of Market and First Streets); click here for hours of operation. Please be sure to bring the following information with you: license plate number(s); make, model, year, and state of registration for each vehicle listed on your account (maximum of 5 per account); and valid credit card number, expiration date, and security code.

Replenish a License Plate Account Using Cash

When opening a License Plate Account using CASH, you must maintain a prepaid toll balance equivalent to at least one toll payment. For example, you drive a two-axle vehicle and your non-discounted toll is $6. So, to maintain your cash-based License Plate Account in good standing, you must maintain an account balance of $6 and if your account balance falls below $6, you are sent a Toll Invoice. In this example, to avoid the possibility of a Toll Invoice which cans escalate to a Toll Violation if unpaid you might want to consider always keeping $6 (or more if you cross frequently) balance on your account.

Using CASH, you can add funds to your License Plate Account in Person only. Please do not mail CASH:
