Background

The Sausalito float has been in continuous and rigorous use since the mid-1990s. It is in need of immediate repairs and will be sent to a local shipyard. During the shipyard period, internal and external structures will be inspected and additional repairs will be made as necessary. The work will include renewal of paint and decking that is not easily performed while the float is in use. This work is being performed during the COVID-19 pandemic when Golden Gate Ferry is carrying about 95% fewer passengers than normal.
