Beginning Wednesday, June 23, Golden Gate Ferry weekday Sausalito service will resume after being suspended while the Sausalito float was removed for required maintenance and repairs. The float maintenance work was performed during the COVID-19 pandemic while Golden Gate Ferry is carrying about 10% of its normal ridership. Sausalito ferry service will resume with reduced schedules due to decreased rider demand.
Sausalito ferry service was replaced with temporary Golden Gate Transit bus service on Route 96 for the duration of the float repairs. The Route 96 will be discontinued with the resumption of ferry service to and from Sausalito.
The Sausalito float had been in continuous and rigorous use since the mid-1990s and was in need of immediate repairs. The float was sent to a local shipyard for inspection and maintenance, which included the renewal of paint and decking that could not have been performed while the float was in use.
Golden Gate Ferry operates weekday service to/from Larkspur, Tiburon, and Sausalito.
